Press - The 414 Hotel in New York City
Time Out New York:
"Critic's Choice Hotel - A hidden gem in the heart of Midtown"
"A Standout in midtown NYC... chicly decorated rooms look like something out of a photo shoot for a home magazine. All have flat-screen TVs, luxury bedding and large bathrooms with Lanovera toiletries. Free wireless Internet access in all 22 guest rooms, the lobby and a striking outdoor brick courtyard, lined with bistro tables and potted flowers..."
Conde Nast Traveller:
The 414 Hotel is really a high-class B&B, developed out of two adjacent townhouses, five minutes or so from Times Square. Several of the 22 bedrooms, which are quite good size, face an inner courtyard, so shutting out the worst of the nighttime noise.
National Geographic Traveler:
"In Hell's Kitchen, a real find is the Hotel 414 - a Euro-style auberge cached on a tree-lined street, geraniums popping cheerfully out from window boxes. Courtyard rooms provide that priceless New York luxury: silence."
“Comfy Broadway-base... Set up like a guesthouse, this great budget deal offers 22 tidy rooms a couple blocks west of Times Square. Staff hand out maps and brim with tips. Steps from restaurants, theatres and Times Square, the 414 is in an active, fun area with plenty to eat, see and do."
"Just about everything about this B&B is excellent. The location-short walk from Times Square, one block from Restaurant Row-is very convenient. The bedrooms, which are spread over two townhouses, are a good size and are good looking. Rooms are overlooking the pleasant courtyard separating the two buildings should be particularly quiet. A number of extras are included in the rates, including simple continental breakfast served in the lobby, all day tea and coffee, and computer access. In the low season periods, the rates can drop --a real bargain."
Best Little Hotel (Guide):
"Go West. West beyond the Theater District. West of Restaurant Row. West to an area of tree-lined streets, low buildings, and glimpses of the river. This is where you will find the Hotel 414, a modest, folksy, and somewhat quirky bed and breakfast....What is special about this out-of-the way hostelry is that there really aren't many like them anywhere else around town."
Outlooks (from Canada):
For most travellers, the single-biggest challenge with any NYC trip is affordable accommodation. One Solution, 414 Hotel, allows you to stay right in the middle of Hell's Kitchen, often for around $200/night... clean, chic-enough and super friendly. 414 has a couple of tables on their 46th street patio, and several more in an intimate courtyard that beg to be used for morning coffee (and that Amy's bun) or just fire up your iPad and send e-postcards to your mom....for the price and neighborhood 414 has become my favorite.
NYC - The Official Guide @ NYCGO.com:
There may be no better way to experience Hell's Kitchen as a neighborhood than to call it home for a few nights and there may be no cozier way to do so than to book a room at the 414 Hotel, a boutique property comprising two charming townhouses. A courtyard—edged in English ivy and accented by planters sprouting boxwood—separates the pair of buildings, which offer a total of 22 guest rooms. The urban oasis also includes five mosaic-covered tables at which guests can enjoy a snack from the self-serve kitchenette, or log on to the Internet via a free WiFi connection. For those temporary residents who need to focus on their laptop screens without the distraction of birdsong or human conversation, the quiet lobby includes an expansive table for spreading out and zooming in.
